So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish is the fourth book of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy "set of three of six books" composed by Douglas Adams. Its title is the message left by the dolphins when they withdrew Planet Earth just before it was demolished to clear a path for a hyperspace bypass, as described in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. A song of the same name was included in the 2005 film variation of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Synopsis
While bumming a ride through the galaxy, Arthur Scratch is dropped off on a planet in a rainstorm. He appears to be in Britain on The planet, despite the fact that he saw the planet destroyed by the Vogons. He has been away for a very long time, yet a couple of months have passed on The planet. He hitches a lift with a man named Russell and his sister Fenchurch (nicknamed "Fenny"). Russell explains that Fenny became delusional later overall mass hysteria, in which everybody fantasized "large yellow spaceships" (the Vogon destructor ships that "demolished" the Earth). Arthur becomes curious with regards to Fenchurch, yet he is dropped off before he can ask more questions. Inside his up until now intact home, Arthur finds a gift-wrapped bowl inscribed with the words "So long and thanks", which he uses for his Babel Fish. Arthur considers that Fenchurch is somehow associated with him and to the World's destruction. He still has the capacity to fly at whatever point he lets his thoughts meander.
Arthur puts his life all together, and afterward tries to discover more with regards to Fenchurch. He inadvertently finds her bumming a ride and picks her up. He obtains her telephone number, however shortly from there on loses it. He randomly discovers her home when he searches for the cavern he had resided in on prehistoric Earth; her level is based on the same spot. They observe more circumstances interfacing them. Fenchurch reveals that, moments before her "hallucinations", she had a revelation regarding how to make everything right, however at that point passed out. She has not had the option to review the substance of the revelation. Ultimately discovering that Fenchurch's feet don't contact the ground, Arthur teaches her how to fly. They engage in sexual relations in the skies over London.
